0-16 Weeks

With newborns, we look into making gentle changes and using age-appropriate settling techniques rather than sleep training baby methods or newborn sleep training. This will help both improve and develop lifelong healthy sleep habits by responding to your baby’s needs, helping them sleep better. Look out for signs of tiredness such as rubbing eyes, yawning, fussiness, jerky movements, and crying.

Ensuring your baby isn’t overtired, as this can result in more difficulty when trying to get them to settle. Putting them down for sleep earlier will make it easier for you to settle them. Be sure to place them in a safe sleep environment during the day and night when they are calm and drowsy; this will encourage healthy sleep.

What to expect with this age group:

Safe sleeping / Tired signs / Baby sleep cycles / Naps / Awake times / Sleep environment / Sleep essentials / Early rising / Night and day confusion

How we can help

We know bringing home a new baby can be a tough learning curve. Our Newborn program is an instant download full of advice and information on baby sleep. It is there to guide you and to give you support on everything you need to know regarding Newborn sleep. Meaning you can begin to make gentle changes straight away.

Newborn Sleep Program

With newborns, we do not use sleep teaching as such, due to having immature sleep biorhythms, which are still developing. Our approach is gentler and less rigid than we would consider after 16 weeks of age, providing you techniques that will help you encourage healthy newborn sleep.
